Alaska - Anchorage
Step 1 of 3

Thank you for expressing interest in joining the Alaska team with Cross Assembly.
Please consider the following information.
If you are then interested in joining the team, select “Continue“ to COMPLETE the three-step process.

Hi, my name is Tami Bagnall, and I would like to invite you to join me this October in ministering to the people of Anchorage, Alaska. This trip has a two-fold purpose:  First, we will minister to the pastors and missionaries who so selflessly give of themselves day after day to the Alaskan people. Alaska is difficult territory for ongoing ministry, and we want to spend time blessing and encouraging them.

The second purpose of the trip is to serve the homeless population of Anchorage.  We will spend time at the Hope Center preparing and distributing lunches to the needy and ministering to the women who live at the attached women’s shelter. We also plan to be a part of a ministry to Alaskan children at the annual Nerf Gun war, which is hosted by one of the local youth pastors.  These outreaches are a great way to get to know and minister to the people of Anchorage.

This team will be hosted by Assemblies of God US Missions pastors Phillip and Amy Boswell.  The Boswells are sent from North Carolina and have established ministry roots in Anchorage at Anchorage Assembly of God.  If you are interested in joining this team, consider the Frequently Asked Questions below and reach out to me with any questions.  If you are ready to apply, take the next step by choosing the application link at the bottom of the page.

Alaska - FAQ

What are the dates of the trip?
The Anchorage global team will serve October 17-26.

What is the cost of the trip, and what is included?
The trip costs $2500-2800.  The cost will be confirmed when airline is secured, and the expense includes airfare, ground transportation, accommodations, emergency/medical insurance and several meals.

The cost does NOT include immunization costs, food at the airport on travel days, and personal purchases for or on the trip.

A $200, non-refundable trip deposit is due by the first team meeting.  Additional payment deadlines will be communicated to team members by the team leader.

Are payments and contributions tax deductible?
Yes, an end-of-year contribution receipt will be provided from Cross Assembly.

Are contributions refundable?
If you are unable to travel after monies have been paid, please consult the team leader and missions director.  Many expenses are pre-paid and nonrecoverable by Cross Assembly and will not be refunded or credited back to you.

How can contributions be made?
Online contributions are preferred and can be made through a team-specific giving link.  The link will be given to team members for their use and for them to distribute to their donors.

If writing a check, checks should be made payable to Cross Assembly.  Per IRS regulations, team member names should NOT be written on the memo line.  If at all possible, please include a payment coupon (given to team members at the first team meeting) with all check payments.  Checks and cash may also be placed in a Cross Assembly giving envelope with the team member’s name and trip indicated.

Will I need a passport?
No, a passport is not required for this trip, but you will need a Real ID to fly domestically.

Are extra immunizations needed for the trip?
Overall, please consult the CDC website and your physician and make a vaccination decision with which you are comfortable.

For more lesser-known vaccinations, you have options such as Passport Health, Rx Urgent Care, and Wake County Human Services.  A quick Google search may also give other options.  Please note that many vaccinations are not covered by standard health insurance coverage, so please research your insurance coverage, cost, and various providers so you’re not caught off-guard.

What if I’m not a member of Cross Assembly?
If you are over the age of 18 and not a member, please contact the Global Missions department at [email protected] for special consideration.

Can a minor join this team?
Due to the nature of the trip, minors will not be considered at this time.

What are the physical demands of this trip?
The physical demands are not extreme, but you will need to be able to stand on your feet for four to six hours at a time. There will be a lot of walking as well.

Is additional training required for this trip?
Yes.  Team members will attend monthly meetings to be better equipped to minister to those in a homeless shelter.  These meetings will also be used to learn more about the culture of the people of Alaska and what to expect while on the trip.
